Autism iHelp represents a thoughtfully developed vocabulary teaching aid, created by parents of a child with autism in collaboration with a speech-language pathologist. This initiative arose from the pressing need for targeted language intervention tools that cater to the distinct strengths and challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly in relation to expressive vocabulary.

The application serves as a supportive resource for children with autism who may struggle to articulate their first words. It employs a user-friendly layout featuring vibrant, real-life photographs that facilitate identification and labeling.

Key features of Autism iHelp include:

 <li>24 Real-World Photos: Research suggests that children with autism respond more favorably to photographs rather than illustrations, as they are often visual learners. The selection of 24 images is strategically categorized into three subgroups of eight, in accordance with established expressive language milestones. This careful curation helps reduce the risk of over-stimulation, enhancing the child's ability to comprehend new concepts at an appropriate pace.</li>
 <li>Labels with Customization: Each photograph is accompanied by a label, which can be turned off if preferred. This flexibility caters to children who may be more attracted to written words. After viewing eight images, users can opt to try again, reinforcing repetition—a vital component for effective vocabulary acquisition.</li>
 <li>Random Presentation Option: Images may be displayed in a random order or sequentially, supporting generalization and concrete learning experiences.</li>
 <li>Audio Options: With audio features activated, users can choose between male and female voice options, creating a more authentic interaction. The audio can also be disabled, encouraging children to vocalize independently and spontaneously identify learned words.</li>
 <li>Learning Enhancement Activities: The app incorporates two engaging activities presented in a game-like format. Children are challenged to match pictures with corresponding words among multiple choices or select the correct word from a set of four pictures. These activities not only assess vocabulary retention but also integrate auditory and visual memory components. Progress reports are available to track each child's advancement by averaging their last three performances in these enhancement activities.</li>

The Autism iHelp - Home module further extends learning opportunities by featuring items commonly found in the kitchen, bedroom, and elsewhere within the home setting. These familiar objects facilitate requests, labeling tasks, or serve as communication aids.
